To the Class of 2024

This message is for all of you and mostly for the ones I had the honor of meeting and will never forget.. whether you were a pleasure or a pain, my memory is vast.

All of you are talented in your own right, and I was proud to witness it.
Let the world see it!

Do not let anyone ever tell you that you can’t, that you aren’t, that you won’t, you shall not. ONLY YOU ARE ABLE TO DETERMINE WHAT YOU ARE CAPABLE OF! and let those discoveries be for the good and not to hurt others or yourself.

Choose kindness, yes, me, Ms. Chavez is saying to choose kindness. I know how I can be seen and kind may not be a word used by many to describe me and I am okay with that, but coming from another generation it wasn’t part of our upbringing because it was seen as weakness and still is, just ask your parents. But today, it is different. It isn’t being weak, in fact only strong mindsets know that it takes strength to be kind in a world that soaks of cruelty and pain. It is easy to respond with aggression and violence but only Love can be liberating, choose it always. You will appreciate it when it is shown to you.

Protect yourself from anyone that takes from you, your time, your energy, your self-esteem, and your love yet gravitate to those who lift you, value you, and ADD to you! And this includes your family members.. YES, I said it.
They are human too, and they can and will make mistakes therefore they are not excluded from that list of people but what I have learned is that they deserve forgiveness. Learn to set boundaries and announce them assertively and lovingly and respectfully.

Become an involved and accurately informed citizen, elect genuine people to REPRESENT YOU! You will work hard for every cent you will earn therefore make sure your taxes are going towards the betterment of our society!
You will not be 20, nor 30, nor 40 for long! I was also a teen here at Fashion and at 49, I’m like WHA! Where did the time ago?
You may have a family in the future and they will deserve a better place to live in. You deserve a better place to exist in!
You are a vital part of our Government and your vote counts, therefore exercise it always!

Those that came before you gave up so much and still are and doesn’t it feel great to know you have made them proud? So go’head! Keep at it!
Remember, success has many fathers while failure is an orphan.

Keep all of us repeating ‘we knew them!’, ‘that was my student!’.. even if you made mistakes, or make mistakes, mistakes do not determine who you are, nor who you will become… Make them all Lessons you have and will learn from.

Love, Ms. Chavez
